This is from Oceans 7 which is a group composed of Jermaine Dupri, Usher, Trey Songz, Nelly, Johnta Austin, Bryan Michael Cox (also, a past Guitar Center employee and one of my producer heroes) and Tyrone Davis.

Visit the Coast 2 Coast Site and special thanks to Lil Fats and Oceans 7 because this song is a surefire hit.

Erasure News - tracklisting for the forthcoming 21st anniversary edition of The Innocents

When I was at Northwestern's Center for Talent Development during the summer before High School, a female classmate of mine turned me on to the Erasure Innocents album, which at that time was one of my favorite albums and still is to this day. Vince Clarke is a musical genius in my opinion and was glad to hear that this album is coming out re-released and remastered.

Mute records have released the tracklisting for the forthcoming 21st anniversary edition of The Innocents,

CD 1 – THE INNOCENTS (remastered)
This is the original Innocents album in a remastered edition and it sounds great, I'm sure you know the tracklisting already, but here it is again just in case...

A Little Respect
Ship Of Fools
Phantom Bride
Chains Of Love
Hallowed Ground
Sixty-Five Thousand
Heart Of Stone
Yahoo!
Imagination
Witch In The Ditch
Weight In The World
When I Needed You (Meloncholic Mix)
River Deep Mountain High (Private Dance Mix)

CD 2 – B-SIDES, REMIXES & RARITIES (remastered)
Something for everyone on this CD, which includes the much sought after 7" version of River Deep Mountain High, the US mixes of Chains Of Love and A Little Respect and four previously unreleased tracks from the BBC's 'In Concert' recording of Erasure at London's Hammersmith Odeon on The Innocents tour back in 1988.

Ship Of Fools (Shiver Me Timbers Mix)
When I Needed You
River Deep Mountain High (7" Version)
Chains Of Love (The Unfettered Mix)
Don’t Suppose (Country Joe Mix)
The Good The Bad and the Ugly (The Dangerous Remix)
A Little Respect (12" House Mix)
Like Zsa Zsa Zsa Gabor (Mark Freegard Mix))
Love Is Colder Than Death

Heart Of Stone (BBC 'In Concert' live recording)
Hallowed Ground (BBC 'In Concert' live recording)
Witch In The Ditch (BBC 'In Concert' live recording)

DVD - The Innocents Live / The Videos / BBC Performances / MP3 Edition
This is a fantastic disc which not only features The Innocents concert from Birmingham's NEC (originally released as a VHS video in 1989) with remixed and remastered audio, plus the two tracks from that concert that have never been released before, but there is also the videos for the three singles taken from the original album, a selection of TV performances from the BBC archives and The Innocents live in MP3 format for you download to your computer or music player!

May My Mom Rest in Peace

Yesterday, my mom lost the fight with her liver transplant, a surgical procedure that had her with colostomy bags for over a year.

This past surgery was her final one with her having a chance to have the bags removed, which had her terribly excited.

However, at around 3:00 she took a nap and never woke up.
I love my mom and this all doesn't seem real, like if someone is going to wake me up from a bad dream.

In pain though, I lean to the ROC and their music once again for being able to help me through it.

There really is not better music or a mom in the world, to me...

Historical Ish >> Oprah "I don't do rappers" has Jay-Z on her show

1st: Source of Pictures
link : http://theybf.com/
// check out this blog as it is always linked on the right in the blogs I read links

What?
Yes, you read that right.
Oprah Winfrey went to the Marcy Projects to have Jay-Z on her show.
Anyone that knows me can attest to the fact that "Eye be all about "O" but always bummed out how she treated rappers". Perhaps this will lead to some collaboration on the philanthropic front for these two who are easily two of my heroes.

Jay - Please hook up "O" with some Rocawear stuff. These pictures made my day as "The World's Greatest Gifter" heads to Marcy to kick it with the "World's Greatest Rapper". Also, FYI to the Republican haters who hate on Obama: These two pretty much sealed the election for Obama when both said "We got you" to our nation's first black president.

Oprah - pay attention to these words >> "We are, yeah I said it, we are...you can call me Caesar!, this is Roc Nation, Pledge your allegiance, get your fatigues on, all black everything, black cards, blacks cars, all black everything, and that girls a blackbirds riding with their dillingers, i get more in depp if you boys really real enough! This is la Familia, I’ll explain later, but for now let me get back to this paper..."

Guess we can expect "O" to be dressed in all black and throwing up the Diamonds... "Eye" can only dream.

WERD

I guess the GAME won't be going on Oprah anytime soon as it appears "O" and "H.O." be getting along fine.

detox: sunday 08/23/09 (web flyer)

So, I have made the decision to do a DJ set at Lava Lounge on 08-23-2009.

Upon telling a few friends, the first question uttered was "Will I be playing all Jay-Z's music"?

The answer to this is "No."  This set will be much like the sets I used to perform around North America.  Techno and Techno that I call "Housier Techno".  As I have gotten older, my tastes have varied a bit and this set will not feature commercial R&B mixes or club hits (which I am sometimes asked to do on gigs outside the city or on weekend nights).  I will be playing the techno that I love.

Lil Wayne has been on repeat today

This one hit a chord.
Damn... Wayne snapped on this one.

"What she means to me is what I mean to rap!" - Lil Wayne
"The Lord is a forgiver, ya know they say if you pray, you can get your blessings ordered and delivered" - Weezy

On multiple levels, his flow rocks.

I gotta spread the word about J. Cole >> Newest Member of ROC NATION

I have become a fan of J. Cole. The stuff that has leaked has been awesome. You will hear this cat's name very soon as he is the newest member of the ROC NATION team. His wordplay is well advanced and in one verse I read of his, I even saw him shout out Adina Howard, whose vocals I love. Stay tuned for more from J. Cole. This video you can watch here is an exclusive unreleased track from "American Gangster". J. Cole is gonna be huge.

Here's some of his verses thanks to King Ababio who shared these with me on facebook.

July 26th event (Detox @ LAVA) and new mix.

This message came from my homie Droopy, who ironically was the first person that interviewed me while he was at Selekta.  He and I go way back and he has always been a true soldier in the electronic music movement which has been a fight in the United States.  Support this night if you can.
